Load Cell Isolation Kit

Osborne has been manufacturing and delivering the FIRE® Performance Testing System worldwide for nearly 15 years.   In recent years, the Osborne Survey Scale has been rapidly gaining market share, owing to its use in the Weight WatcherSystem for growth management and market sorting.

Both of these systems rely on a load cell for measuring the weight of the animals or the weight of the feed that the animals consume.  The load cell that we have used for many years has proven its durability and reliability in livestock production in many regions of the world.

Nevertheless, we have noticed that high voltage spikes from lightning and from power line surges of unknown origin can occasionally penetrate the protective systems that we have built into all of our automated electronics.  When this occurs, the load cell may be damaged or destroyed.  Our tests show that added protection from high voltage is possible for the load cell(s) on the Survey Scale (one load cell on the feeder and one on the ACCU-ARM weigh race) if these load cells are electrically isolated from the surrounding equipment.

Recently electrical isolation has been implemented in all newly manufactured automated weighing products as a standard design.  We would like to urge you to implement this change on your existing Osborne equipment to reduce the chance for costly damage to your load cells.

This modification is easy and relatively quick to install.  It could save you the expense and downtime that might otherwise occur in its absence.  Step-by-step installation instructions are included so that the modification can be made without any technical help.
